The Red Light is a hip-funky-retro second-hand clothing store located in the Seattle's University District. In the store's windows, beautifully lit and fully decked-out mannequins model samplings of the latest wares available to the shopper in search of just the right fashion statement. Though they work day and night as it is, the mannequins also find time to moonlight as models for the paintings you see here. The lighting, the colors, the textures and gestures--they're all ready-made for any passing artist! -- Don Haggerty (To peruse my Mannequins of New York, click here.) |
